Actor Nathalie Emmanuel, known for her role as Missandei in Game of Thrones and Ramsey in the Fast and Furious franchise, talked about her self-love journey and limited opportunities black, mixed actor get in the UK.

She is known for giving incredible interviews and touching on everything from body image and self-care to dropping serious industry truth bombs. In conversation with Essence, Nathalie said that British Industry hasn%u2019t always embraced them.

%u201CSo many Black, mixed people like myself have come out to America because the opportunities just weren%u2019t here for us. Unfortunately, what%u2019s happened is a lot of black talent has been lost to the states,” she added.

“It’s not like… we haven’t been calling for this for many years, it was just falling on dead ears,” she continued. Nathalie said that the US has much more opportunities for people of all kinds of backgrounds. Speaking about herself she said she%u2019s seen the benefit of representation in real-time.

“I kind of just took a risk, like, ‘I guess I%u2019m going to try [and make it in the states],’ and I feel really proud of that,” she continued. “The fact that the universe has decided ‘Nathalie, this is going to happen.’ It%u2019s surreal. I pinch myself regularly.”

“It%u2019s always really heartwarming when someone comes up to me and they say my daughter hated her hair, she hated her skin, she hated these things about herself and she saw you and now she loves herself,” she said.

Sharing this Nathalie said how these gestures make her cry because she has also been at the same place and that little girl too. %u201CI was that little girl so the fact that I can be that for someone else is lovely,” she added.
