A gunfight in Henderson, North Carolina, has left two victims injured. The incident took place at the corner between  S. Garnett Street and Granite Street, right outside an establishment which was earlier known as Hayes Brothers Muffler Shop.

Among the injured, one took a gunshot hit in the stomach and had to be taken to the hospital. The other victim, a woman, was sitting in a car when a bullet hit her in the leg.

The window of a post office nearby was shattered by another shot. 

Police have not yet made any arrest. Henderson Mayor Eddie Ellington said that no connection has yet been established between the victims and the perpetrators.

North Carolina has been witnessing a number of shootings in recent times. On October 24, 2022, Oxford, North Carolina Police Department reported that shots were fired near Piedmont Avenue, which left six injured. In a Facebook post following the incident, the Oxford PD said, “This investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Division of the Oxford Police Department and The State Bureau of Investigations. Charlotte, NC witnessed seven murders between August 18 to October 4, 2022. All were victims of gun violence. 

According to usconcealedcarrying.com, North Carolina does not require registration of firearms. Only residents of the state are eligible to purchase handguns in the state. There is no rule against openly carrying weapons in NC.

In another shooting incident that occurred in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania today, six people were injured outside a church. Police are yet to identify the suspects or zero in on the motive behind the shootings. One of the victims is critical and is currently under treatment at a local hospital.
