Multiple shots were fired outside a church in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights area on Friday, leaving six people injured. Among the injured, one individual is in critical condition and is under treatment at Allegheny General Hospital. The other five remain stable, according to Pittsburgh Police Commander Rick Ford.

Police were alerted by the gunshot detection system, ShotSpotter, a short while after Friday noon. Ford said that the first alert made the police aware of five rounds being shot, and the subsequent alert hinted at 15 shots. The shooting took place while a funeral was ongoing in the church, and police believe that some of the victims had come to attend said event.

Although the police have said that there was more than one gunman at the scene, neither the identities of the same nor the motive behind the shooting is clear yet.

The police have not yet been able to determine if this was a gang-related shooting since the investigation is in a nascent stage as of now. “We believe there is a dispute going on, we’re looking into that”, said Ford.

Among the six injured, four went to hospitals by themselves while two were transported by medics. The identities of the victims have also not been revealed.
