Demi Lovato, who is an American actor, singer and songwriter, opened up about the physical toll of her 2018 overdose and hospitalisation case, which shocked a lot of people. Lovato in a trailer of her new YouTube docuseries “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil,” which is due to release on March 23, reveals details of the health difficulties she suffered from.

In the trailer, the singer said that she got three strokes and also a heart attack as her doctors had said that she just had 5-10 minutes. At a Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday, she furthered that the attack later left her with brain damage, which has sharp effects.

Here’s the YouTube video of the trailer:

She shared a lot of problems that she dealt with after the strokes, like inability to drive a car because of blind spots in my vision. Also, Lovato said that she had hard time reading and I could read a book after two months which was a big deal as her vision was so blurry.

There were a lot of repercussions, and are still there to remind her what could happen if she ever got into a dark place again, she added. But, in all the dark, there was a ray of hope too. Demi said that she was grateful that she didn’t have to go for rehabilitation, it rather came in the emotional side and therapeutic side internally, and did a lot of physical work after that.

Lovato was hospitalised in July 2018 for an overdose just a month after she admitted in her album “Sober” that she had relapsed. Two weeks later, she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, “I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet.”

Lovato joined hands with YouTube for the release of her 2017 documentary “Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.” She told reporters on Wednesday that she had desire to help fans on similar jouneys, which gave her a motive to talk openly about her experience.

On the talks doing rounds about her for the past couple of years, she said that she wanted to set the record straight and to reveal it all for her fans. Lovato said that, “Hey, this is who I am, and this is where I’m at today, and this is the journey that got me here. And if it helps you, then I hope that it can,’ because… my purpose in putting this out was to be able to help people that have been on the same path as I have.”

Demi said that she was motivated to bring raw honesty to her music, and she explained that she is a truth teller and such people help other people seek truth within themselves. If one doesn’t acknowledge our feelings, and we are not vulnerable with other people then we are going to experience internal growth that we need to survive and help in making this world a better place to live in.
