Marking
the latest development in what can be called ‘diplomatic tensions’ between the US and
Iran, latter’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Thursday warned the
US President Donald Trump against any “adventurism” before leaving
the White House in a Twitter post.

Referring to an image Trump posted after embassy attack in Iraq Zarif tweeted ” Donald Trump uses a worthless photo to recklessly accuse Iran. Last time, the US ruined our region over WMD fabrications, wasting $7 TRILLION & causing 58,976 American casualties.

FAR WORSE this time. Trump will bear full responsibility for any adventurism on his way out.”

The statement comes after Trump on Wednesday explicitly named Iran for Sunday’s rocket attack on US embassy in Baghdad, saying he would hold Iran responsible for any more of such attacks.

“Our embassy in Baghdad got hit Sunday by several rockets. Three rockets failed to launch. Guess where they were from: IRAN. Now we hear chatter of additional attacks against Americans in Iraq,” Trump said in tweet which was posted with a picture of three rockets which, he said, failed to launch.

The friction between the two countries is also believed to be at peak as first death anniversary of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, killed by a US
drone strike in Baghdad on January 3 this year, is approaching.

The
US embassy in Iraq and other foreign soils have been under rockets and roadside bomb attacks since late 2019.

Meanwhile, the attack on US Embassy on Sunday, however, caused no human casualty but damaged material structure around the embassy. The embassy responded to the attack by activating its C-RAM rocket defense system.
