Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the 102nd Intelligence Wing in Cape Cod, has been arrested by the FBI on suspicion that he was behind the US military document leak. Social media users are now asking if the national guardsman is a Donald Trump follower.

Teixeira, as per reports, oversaw an online Discord group called the Thug Shaker Central where the Pentagon document was first shared. The New York Times reports that the group had 20 to 30 people who talked about guns, racist memes and video games.

The 21-year-old is an airman first class. He joined the Air National Guard in September 2019, according to the Air Force. He works for the Massachusetts Air National Guard. His job title has been described as a cyber transport systems journeyman.

Videos of FBI officers taking Teixeira into custody are being circulated on social media. Several Twitter users, after the arrest, said that the youngster might be a Donald Trump follower and believes in the MAGA (Make America Great Again) concept.

“Yep, Jack Teixeira definitely to all appearances seems to be a MAGA-radicalized POS, let in under Trump in 2020. No doubt, there are many more of them,” a Twitter user said.

“Hmm now I’m wondering how the arrested classified document guy Jack Teixeira knows Donald Trump,” another one added.

Several social media users said that Teixeira formed the Discord group in 2020 – when Trump was President.

“Notice the sad spin below. In fact, according to the Guardian Jack Teixeira formed his Discord group in 2020–when Trump was president at the height of the COVID pandemic. Even so, the real issue is MAGA-radicalized current and former military. Not easy to catch them all,” a third one tweeted.

However, there is no established link between the 21-year-old and Donald Trump.

An FBI spokeswoman, as per the Times, said that Teixeira was taken ‘into custody without incident at a residence in North Dighton, Massachusetts’.

“The F.B.I. is continuing to conduct authorized law enforcement activity at the residence. Since late last week the F.B.I. has aggressively pursued investigative leads and today’s arrest exemplifies our continued commitment to identifying, pursuing, and holding accountable those who betray our country’s trust and put our national security at risk,” she added.
