Jeff Bezos, the 59-year-old mogul and founder of Amazon, has been raising eyebrows with his recent actions, leading some to speculate if he is going through a mid-life crisis.

The most notable event was his proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Sanchez, on the maiden voyage of his extravagant $500 million yacht Koru. Bezos presented her with a 20-carat diamond ring worth $2.5 million.

Known for his tech nerd persona, Bezos has undergone a significant transformation in his appearance and behavior. He now favors form-fitting clothes and funky sunglasses, and he has been described as acting like a “horny teenager” around Sanchez, who bears a striking resemblance to the busty figurehead on his yacht Koru, the tallest sailing yacht in the world.

According to the DailyMail, Bezos seems to be going through a mid-life crisis like no other. He waited until he acquired the 417-foot ship to propose to Sanchez, who is 53 years old and works as a TV presenter and helicopter pilot. Their romance started in secrecy but went public in 2019, shortly after both Bezos and Sanchez announced their divorces from their respective spouses.

Reports suggest that Bezos and Sanchez had an eight-month affair while still married to their partners, ultimately leading to the end of Bezos’s 25-year marriage to Mackenzie Scott and Sanchez’s separation from talent agent Patrick Whitesell after nearly 15 years of marriage.

After the proposal, Bezos resumed construction on his $175 million mega-mansion in Beverly Hills, California. The property was previously owned by Warner Bros. president Jack Warner, emphasizing Bezos’s extravagant and flashy lifestyle.

This isn’t the first time Bezos has faced accusations of exhibiting signs of a mid-life crisis. Actor and comedian Anthony Anderson made a joke about Bezos’s cowboy hat-wearing space trip aboard his Blue Origin spaceship, likening it to a metallic male appendage.

The space endeavor prompted comments from others who also speculated that Bezos was going through a mid-life crisis.

Bezos’s attempt to enter the professional sports arena further fueled the rumors. He reportedly expressed interest in bidding for the Washington Commanders but was eventually cut out of the bidding by the team’s owner, Dan Snyder, as the price reached $6 billion in late March. Rumors now suggest that Bezos might be considering buying the Seattle Seahawks, the next team expected to be sold.
