Virginia Thomas, the wife of US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has agreed to speak to the January 6 Committee, according to her lawyer. The announcement comes as the House panel scheduled a fresh public hearing after more than two months.
Thomas’ attorney Mark Paoletta said that she is “eager to answer” the committee’s questions to clear up any misconceptions about her work relating to the 2020 election”, news agency Associated Press reported. The January 6 Committee is currently investigating the Capitol riots of 2021.

Virginia Thomas, 65, came into the spotlight in June this year after CNN reported that she exchanged text messages with Mark Meadows before the January 6 riots. Meadows was then-US President Donald Trump’s chief of staff.
Virginia Thomas, nicknamed Ginni, also contacted two lawmakers in Arizona to urge them to choose “a clean slate of Electors” and “stand strong in the face of political and media pressure”, Associated Press reported.
Thomas, known to be a conservative, has been public about supporting Trump. She also clarified that her political stances do not stand in the way of the decisions made by her husband Clarence Thomas, a Supreme Court judge.
Ginni Thomas told Washington Free Beacon in an interview, “Like so many married couples, we share many of the same ideals, principles, and aspirations for America.”

She added, “But we have our own separate careers, and our own ideas and opinions too. Clarence does not discuss his work with me, and I do not involve him in my work.”
Justice Clearance Thomas was the only Supreme Court Justice opposed to giving the House Select Committee access to presidential diaries, visitor logs, speech drafts and handwritten notes relating to the events of January 6.
