The Johnston police responded to reports of a triple shooting early Wednesday morning, according to Mayor Joseph Polisena Jr. 2 people were killed and another was injured in the incident, according to the police.

An active crime scene was reported at Ligian Court around 7:30 a.m. local time in Rhode Island. The suspect has been caught, Polisena added, and identified as James Harrison. No information is available on what the incident was or who the suspect is. It was reported that Harrison has been shot on the Cranston/Johnston line. He was transported to the hospital. His current condition is not known at the moment.

The shooting is believed to be related to a domestic and neighborhood dispute. The suspect was reportedly spotted in a vehicle and pursued by Cranston Police. The pursuit finally came to an end when the suspect’s vehicle crashed at the 295 on-ramps on Plainfield Street. The suspect is reportedly dead. 

The suspect’s vehicle sustained considerable damage. Bullet holes were observed in the windshield of the vehicle operated by the suspect.

“I was informed this morning of a triple shooting in Johnston,” Polisena Jr. wrote on social media Wednesday. “I can now confirm the suspect has been apprehended and the danger to the public is over.”

The only thing that the mayor said was that the police department is investigating an active crime scene on Ligian Court.
