Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that he is lifting the mask mandate and restrictions that were put due to COVID-19, even though the health officials suggested against the move. This move came in the wake of distress amongst people as they could not pay their bills, and struggled with small businesses.

Governor Abbott highlighted that Texans had been sidelined from jobs and employment opportunities for too long. In a statement, Abbott said that, %u201CToo many Texans have been sidelined from employment opportunities. Too many small business owners have struggled to pay their bills. This must end. It is now time to open Texas 100%.%u201D

Abbott also said that the people of Texas had mastered the way to live with COVID-19, his move came at a time when the cases in the US were dropping, but officials warned that sudden relaxation could bring a surge again. 

According to the John Hopkins University, 6.57% of Texans have been vaccinated until now with a high recovery of 10 million people in the state.
