On August 1, shortly after 5 a.m., crews from stations 2, 4, 5, 17, 49, 50, 57, 77, Hazmat 66, and Rehab 8 responded to a complaint at 9655 West Tidwell Rd. They discovered light smoke coming from a sizable warehouse there. The building’s sprinkler system, according to the agency, managed the primary fire while workers finished the project and used a sizable fan to expel smoke from the structure.

The cause and origin point of the fire remains under investigation by arson investigators, according to HFD. Last week’s fire caused an estimated $20,000 worth of damage to the warehouse, according to the department.

Moreover, investigators are also trying to identify what caused a house fire that is said to have cost a Greater Inwood home hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage late last month.

According to the agency, there were no reported injuries from the fire.

After receiving a house call in the Greater Inwood neighborhood’s 7700 block of Battleoak Drive shortly before 1:30 p.m. on July 31, HFD said that personnel from stations 2, 4, 5, 13, 30, 31, 38, 50, 77, 96, and Rehab 17 arrived to find the fire coming from the residence.

After doing an initial search and discovering no one inside, personnel allegedly organised a defensive attack on the fire until it was brought under control from the outside before extinguishing everything inside, according to the department.

Although HFD stated that it now appears to be an accident, the department stated that it is currently unknown what started the incident. The fire, which the agency estimates cost the residence $225,000 in damage, is currently being investigated as an act of arson by detectives.
