Multiple explosions have been reported in Iberville Parish near the Dow Chemical Plant. The incident occurred in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Emergency officials are currently on the scene, responding to the situation.

Iberville emergency preparedness sent out an alert instructing residents in the area to stay indoors and turn off their air conditioning units. The explosions are believed to have taken place near the Dow Chemical Plant, according to Sheriff Brett Stassi.

Dow Chemical has confirmed the presence of a fire at their Plaquemine facility. The company’s Emergency Operations Center is managing the situation, and they are in contact with officials regarding the incident. Dow Chemical has stated that all employees have been accounted for. The company will provide updates on the situation as they gather more information.

As a precautionary measure, a shelter-in-place order has been issued within a half-mile radius of the Dow Chemical facility. The Iberville Parish Council’s Office of Emergency Preparedness has issued the order to ensure the safety of residents in the vicinity. Dow Chemical has informed the council that they are conducting air monitoring and have not detected any readings at this time.

Law enforcement authorities, including the Louisiana State Police, are assisting with road closures near the Dow Chemical Plant. Deputies are present at the scene, conducting investigations to gather additional information about the incident.
