A rising high school football star identified as Tarrell Greene has been charged as an adult in connection with a Memorial Day double shooting in Fort Lauderdale.

The incident happened on the evening of May 29 in the vicinity of the Swimming Hall of Fame, in the 700 block of Seabreeze Boulevard. Two additional teenagers were hurt during the incident and later taken to the hospital.

The arrest report stated that the 16-year-old was seen on camera shooting two other teenagers. The shooting took place in a parking lot near the beach.

Who is Tarrell Greene?

Tarrell Greene is 16 years old. He had made posts on social media in recent months claiming to have received football scholarship offers from prominent universities such as the University of Miami and Alabama, among others.

According to an arrest report, Tarrell Greene, a 16-year-old individual, was captured on surveillance video shooting the other two teens in a parking lot near the beach. One of the victims was allegedly seen riding a bicycle toward Greene and getting near to him in the video. Greene allegedly fired the shot as the victim turned and started to leave.

The second victim, a 15-year-old, was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a bullet fired by Tarrell Greene. The bullet hit the victim’s chin. Both victims, including the 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, were subsequently transported to Broward Health Medical Center to receive medical treatment for their injuries.

Tarrell Greene was detained after the shooting and is currently being charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of having a firearm while a minor.

Greene’s counsel emphasized that his client had spent nearly two months in jail throughout the inquiry at his court appearance on Friday. Greene’s lawyer affirmed that he has no prior criminal history and said this will affect his football future.
