Close to 150 attendees of a party in Southern California’s
Huntington Beach were arrested on Monday, after posts regarding the event became
viral on TikTok. The party, having started as a birthday celebration, soon saw
scores of people gathering in the area.

The Huntington Beach Police Department arrested at least 149 people,
including 121 adults and 28 juveniles, due to alleged charges such as
vandalism, illegal fireworks, and failure to disperse.

Information regarding the party was posted on TikTok by user Adrian.lopez517,
and the post, going viral through the week, resulted in almost 270 million
views as of Monday, as per a USA Today report.

“We are actively monitoring multiple social media posts advertising a
large gathering on the beach this weekend. The safety & well-being of our
residents, visitors, businesses & motorists is paramount, which is why the
Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) is taking significant steps to
prepare for the potential influx of visitors, including working closely with
our regional public safety partners. 
Toward that end, the HBPD will also be strictly enforcing all applicable
laws & ordinances throughout the weekend”, the Huntington Beach Police
Department tweeted out on May 22.

Following it up later, the police department informed that the gathering was declared an unlawful
assembly was declared in the downtown area, as well as that 29 arrests were
made for aforementioned charges.
