Owing to heavy rains, induced storm Elsa, floods have been caused at several New York train stations, forcing the commuters to wade through the waist-deep water to travel across the Big Apple.
Shocking videos have emerged of a woman struggling through a subway system submerged in clogged water as she attempted to reach the platform at the 157th Street No. 1 train station in Washington Heights, going by the video.
However, she wasn’t the only one. Another commuter at the same waterlogged station was also caught on camera trudging through the subway pool on his way out.
Another video revealed how the 125th St. station was also suffering due to the rains and the water was pouring onto the platform and into an oncoming train while passengers were trying to get in.
A user tweeted: “Wow @mta flooded train, no AC, feels like a sauna, trying to get on safety so no one slips and the conductor is mad we are not getting on fast enough. What a mess. Nothings changed.”

Meanwhile, water-logging was also spotted at the Major Deegan Expressway in New York City following a vicious downpour. The Big Apple is expected to continue getting drenched on Friday, when Tropical Storm Elsa moves through the region.
Meanwhile, following the emergence of the concerning videos, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a dig at the conservatives for terming the Green New Deal, a climate proposal that will look to create millions of good jobs rebuilding infrastructure to stem climate change, as “unrealistic”.
However, New York City Transit Subway account argued that “crews are actively addressing flooding issues in our stations.”
“We’ve hardened stations in coastal flooding zones, but when streets above flood, water will always flow downhill. Please be safe and do not enter flooded stations while our crews work to resolve this,” they added.
