The New York Yankees are acquiring outfielder Tim Locastro in a trade with Arizona Diamondbacks, CBS Sports reports revealed on Thursday. Minor league pitcher Keegan Curtis will move to Arizona in exchange.

With Locastro, the Yankees look to add pace in their lineup. The 27-time Super Series champions have lost five of their last six games, the latest defeat coming against Los Angeles Angels on Thursday.

This is the second time the Yankees have acquired Locastro. In 2018, the Los Angeles Dodgers traded him to New York. But he was soon traded to the Diamondbacks. The 29-year-old has spent parts of his last three seasons in Arizona.

Tim Locastro is a career .234/.339/.324 (78 OPS+) hitter with four home runs and 31 stolen bases on 34 tries. He is batting .178 with one home run and five stolen bases this season. With Locastro, the Yankees add some depth to their team. The former Dodgers player can be sent to the minors without first passing through waivers.

Keegan Curtis, on the other hand, has been pitching out of the Double-A bullpen this season so far. His strikeout rate (15.19 per nine) and a 3.94 ERA in 12 appearances is impressive.

Prior to acquiring Locastro, the New York Yankees had shown interest in Texas Rangers minor-league outfielder Delino DeShields Jr., sources told CBS Sports.

The Yankees’ loss to the Los Angeles Angels and a 41-39 record sees them placed at the fourth rung of the American League East. The division is led by  Boston Red Sox, who have a 50-31 record.
