Two people have died and several others were injured in a shooting at an off-campus building early Sunday in Norfolk, Virginia. The incident prompted a nearby hospital to go on lockdown.

The Norfolk Police Department said they received a call at about 12 a.m. for the shooting in the 5000 block of Killam Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene and “came in contact with four women and three men suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to a Norfolk Police Department news release. Five of the victims had non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The incident is one of four gun-related cases that took place in Norfolk just last night, adding to the more than 450 mass shootings in the United States so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
