Days after isolating himself following the Capitol violence, US President Donald Trump is headed to visit Texas on Tuesday to make people recall one of the biggest promises during his presidency– his battle against illegal migration.

Trump is scheduled to visit the US-Mexican border town of Alamo in Texas.

With Democrats calling for Trump’s historic second impeachment after his supporters stormed the Capitol last week in an effort to halt the peaceful transition of power, the country is now braced for president’s next move.

As per a report by Guardian, the Republican leader has reportedly continued his retreat into paranoia and unreality, repeating in a conversation with the House majority leader, Kevin McCarthy, that ‘Antifa’ leftwing activists were responsible for death and destruction inside the Capitol.

“It’s not Antifa,” McCarthy reportedly replied. “It’s Maga. I know. I was there.” Maga refers to the Trump slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’.

However, his aides have been urging him to instead use the days he has left in White House to highlight the chief accomplishments of his presidency.

Trump on Tuesday issued an emergency declaration in Washington DC ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20. The state of emergency, which will be effective from Monday, is set to be in place till January 24.

The move comes amidst threat perception to the event by federal agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which has warned of armed protests in state capitals across the country ahead of next week’s presidential inauguration.

On Monday, the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives Leader, Steny Hoyer, announced that the vote to impeach outgoing President Donald Trump will take place on Wednesday.
