Ahead of former President Donald Trump’s surrender in Georgia with regards to his fourth indictment, some of his supporters are brewing the conspiracy theory that the MAGA rally outside Fulton County Jail is an FBI setup.

The rally has been promoted by the far-right activist Laura Loomer. It took place at 10 a.m. ET on Thursday, hours ahead of Trump’s plan to surrender himself. Trump also posted a link of a Newsweek article about the said rally on Truth Social. He also posted a screenshot of Loomer’s post calling on Trump supporters to gather at the jail.

It must be pointed out that the rhetoric the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021 was an FBI setup has been debunked multiple times. Several Trump supporters have been arrested for their actions during the Capitol riot. Nevertheless, some conspiracy theorists continue to suggest that there were undercover agents entrapping conservatives.

In 2021, after the riots, a right-wing attorney for January 6 defendants went on Tucker Carlson’s former Fox News show to reveal that a man dressed in red face paint and wearing a “Keep America Great” hat was “clearly a law enforcement officer” who provoked the crowd.
