Fox News announced Monday that it has decided to split with Tucker Carlson, one of its most popular personalities. The broadcasting company said in a press release that “Tucker Carlson Tonight” broadcasted its final episode on Friday.
The announcement follows a recent $787.5 million settlement in a major $1.6 billion defamation case brought by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox Corporation.
In the months leading up to the trials, a steady trickle of documents showed how several Fox executives and personalities, including Carlson, intentionally spread fabrications about the 2020 election and invented conspiracies involving voting machines like Dominion’s election manipulation.
The shares of Fox News fell by as much as 5.4% on Monday, the most since October, just after the business disclosed Tucker Carlson’s departure from the TV news network. The value that was lost is equivalent to $690 million. According to the network’s news statement, “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
Social media users were also outraged by Tucker Carlson’s departure, with ‘RIP Fox News‘ becoming the top trend today. Most Twitteratis supported him and added to the trend, with one saying, “Tucker was the last host with any real unique thoughts at Fox. RIP FOX NEWS 1996-2023″ and another saying, “Tucker was too much for them to bear. Too much truth about COVID, vaccines, Ukraine, January 6 was probably the last straw. Or maybe Tucker had more up his sleeve. It was only a matter of time. RIP FOX News. The end of an era.”

Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene also extended complete sympathy towards Carlson by saying, “Cable news is about to be taught a powerful lesson after Fox News caved to the woke mob and fired Tucker Carlson. Americans no longer blindly watch the news like they did decades ago, they only watch the ones who have courage to tell the truth. Americans are about to quit.”
