Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will announce he is running for president during a discussion with Twitter CEO Elon Musk.

On Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, Musk and DeSantis will host a discussion on Twitter Spaces, the website’s audio chat tool. It will be moderated by tech entrepreneur David Sacks, a supporter of DeSantis and a confidant of Elon Musk. Musk on Tuesday retweeted a tweet from Fox News about the upcoming Twitter Spaces meeting to his 140 million followers.

The campaign will debut its video the same night, and DeSantis will start touring several early states after Memorial Day.

DeSantis may benefit greatly from the relationship because it will provide him access to and credibility with Musk’s enormous following, which includes his 140 million Twitter followers. But if the tycoon’s numerous divisive remarks cause DeSantis to lose focus, it may turn into a burden.

Musk’s association with the emerging leader in the Republican Party will be further strengthened by the launch. Musk has been a fan of DeSantis, who frequently criticizes corporate media. Musk declared last year that if the governor decided to run for president, he would back him.

Earlier, Musk stated at a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) event that the occasion will mark “the very first time” that such an announcement is made on social media. By hosting the launch on his platform, it’s unclear whether he’s expressing support for the Florida governor’s campaign. He stated at the WSJ event that he would not make an endorsement and instead wanted to use Twitter as a public forum.

Months of rumors regarding DeSantis’ official announcement of his candidacy will come to an end with the announcement.
During his term as governor of Florida, new restrictions on abortion, sex and gender identity education in public schools, and gun ownership laws were all implemented.

He is anticipated to present himself in the upcoming months as a successful politician with a long list of conservative policy accomplishments – without the “drama” of Trump.
