Senator Ron Johnson on Thursday said on a radio talk show that he felt a sense of safety during the January 6 Capitol attack because the mob was mainly comprised of White pro-Trump protestors.
Johnson said he would have been concerned if the protestors would have been affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Talking on “The Joe Pags Show” he said, “Even though those thousands of people that were marching to the Capitol were trying to pressure people like me to vote the way they wanted me to vote, I knew those were people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, would never do anything to break the law, and so I wasn’t concerned.”
Senator Johnson said he “never really felt threatened,” while downplaying the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Elaborating, he said, “Now, had the tables been turned — Joe, this could get me in trouble — had the tables been turned, and President Trump won the election and those were tens of thousands of Black Lives Matter and Antifa protesters, I might have been a little concerned,” reported CNN.
Republican Ron has repeatedly made comments which depict the Capitol attack wrongly. In February, the Senator said that he did not believe the January 6 attack was an “armed insurrection”. According to the Justice Department, the rioters brought a large number of weapons with them on the day as per court orders.
While the FBI has said that there is no evidence of leftist instigators being part of the mob, Johnson has supported that conspiracy theory that professional provocateurs were present on January 6.
The Justice Department is currently in the process of preparing the first set of guilty plea offers to those charged for the attack.
