Ex-NFL player Sergio Brown who was believed to have gone missing after his mother’s body was found in a creek near her Illinois home in suspected homicide posted a video on Instagram saying that he had been kidnapped by law enforcement.

In a video shared on the Instagram handle “intplayerwithapassport,” which appears to be a burner account for the player, the former New England Patriots player opened up about the news that his mother, Myrtle Brown, 73, was found dead.

The 35-year-old said that he thought his mother was on vacation and that he had been kidnapped by the FBI and the Maywood Police Department. Before he accused the Maywood Police Department and the FBI of kidnapping him twice from his home, he made several claims of “fake news.”

“They kidnapped me twice from home. The Maywood Police Department,” he said before his words became unintelligible. “It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police. I thought my f–kin’ momma was on vacation.” As he ranted to the camera loud music blared in the background. The video was tagged with a location in Mexico City. However, it was deleted and reposted without the location, according to Deadspin. His whereabouts remain unclear.

Police are aware of the video. “Maywood Police Department detectives are aware of a video that has surfaced on social media in relation to Mr. Sergio Brown, who is still considered a missing person and are also looking into its authenticity,” Maywood Police Department public information officer Carmen Rivera told New York Post.

The victim’s neighbor, Carlos Cortez told CBS 2 that Sergio had been acting out of character for months before his mother was killed. He said he last saw the mother and son on Thursday. He also mentioned that the police told him that something unusual was spotted by them in the ring doorbell camera.

“They see him taking out the trash, and they see him have a bonfire where he burned all her clothes,” Cortez said.

Cortez also said he spoke to the murdered woman’s relatives who said her son had been “out of his mind.”
