There is internet chatter about a suspected shooting in downtown Orlando. Comments started circulating after a TikToker put up a video saying they were in downtown Orlando, and “they literally just started shooting”. The TikToker then says “get out of the window”, and shouts in the background can be heard instructing people to go down the stairs and all the way to the back.

The Twitter user who shared the TikTok video on the social media platform, said, “another shooting in downtown orlando??? he literally posted this 45 min ago..”

Another user Tweeted, “Shooting in Downtown Orlando ! Stay safe everyone”.

For now, there don’t appear to be corroborating reports backing the news of the shooting, and an individual pointed this out on Twitter, saying, “i’m hearing from tiktok that there was a shooting in downtown orlando but why isn’t the news talking about it? why hasn’t opd said anything? wtf is going on?”

A Twitter individual also added, “why does downtown orlando have a new shooting every weekend.”

News of this suspected shooting comes on the heels of an incident on Sunday, where a man in his 20s was shot and killed near Lake Mann west of downtown Orlando, Orange County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Orlando is in Florida, a state known for its lax gun laws. One doesn’t need a permit to acquire a firearm in Florida.

Last month, there was a shooting at Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando, where seven people were hurt, including a 23-year-old woman celebrating her birthday.

Addressing the incident at the time, Jennifer Denison, who works at an Orange Avenue restaurant – Neon Beach – noted that she preferred to work mornings to avoid the violence at night. “It’s a good city and it shouldn’t be like this at all anymore”, she told Spectrum News 13.
