A Republican-led effort to censure Democratic Representative Adam Schiff for insisting that former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election failed a key house vote on Wednesday. As many as 20 GOP leaders voted against the motion.

The vote went 225-196 against the Republicans. If the 20 GOP leaders voted for it, they would have pipped the Democrats.

The resolution against Schiff was introduced by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla. Tom Massie, Steve Womack and Brian Fitzpatrick were amongst the top GOP Reps to go with Democrats. They were trolled on social media.

“Please explain your position not to continue the censorship of Adam Schiff. Very disappointing move sir!!” a Twitter user said to Womack.

“The Coward 20 who voted with Democrats to protect Adam Schiff from censure & fines really don’t want their contact info circulating,” another one added.

“20 Republicans voted w/ Dems to stop the ethics investigation, censure, & fine of Adam Schiff. So there is no confusion (as some did not accurately read the bill) I will be filing a privileged motion to censure & send Schiff to ethics for investigation,” Paulina Luna tweeted.
