In a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle claimed that the reports of her making Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, cry before her wedding to Prince Harry were not true. 

“Everyone in the institution knew it wasn’t true,” Meghan told Oprah.

“The reverse happened,” the Duchess of Sussex said about the alleged incident that has been pored over at great length by the gossip press. 

Meghan, 39, added that Kate “was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised.”

She called the incident “the beginning of a real character assassination” and “a turning point” in her relations with the royal family.

The two-hour interview of Meghan and Harry with the American talk show host is the biggest royal tell-all since Harry’s mother Princess Diana detailed her crumbling marriage to his father Prince Charles in 1995.
