Former US President Donald Trump, who was on a trial for impeachment earlier this month in the US Senate, made it clear on Friday that he seeks revenge from those who crossed party lines and voted against him at the trial, a move which was foreseen by many.

Max Miller, the deputy campaign manager of Trump in 2020 elections, received the former President’s endorsement in the form of “complete and total” support while he faces Anthony Gonzalez, one of the few members of the Republican party who voted to impeach Trump, blaming him for inciting violence at the US Capitol on January 6.

“Max Miller is a wonderful person who did a great job at the White House and will be a fantastic congressman,” Trump said in a statement.

Trump demonstrated support for the candidature of Miller and said, “Max Miller is a wonderful person who did a great job at the White House and will be a fantastic congressman,” while denouncing Gonzalez saying, “Current Representative Anthony Gonzalez should not be representing the people of the 16th district because he does not represent their interest or their heart.”

Miller, who has always been a close aide for the former President tweeted, “I will never back down and will never betray my constituents,” while following up on his endorsement as a potential congressman.

It is believed to be the first endorsement Trump has offered to a challenger of one of the Republicans who voted for his ouster, reported AFP.

Trump later got acquitted in the US Senate as an impeachment required a two-thirds majority, which meant that a total of 67 senators had to vote for in favour of the ouster of the former President.
