Short video sharing app TikTok was not loading for many users across the US Tuesday, amid what appeared to be a widespread technical outage for the popular
short-form video platform lasting more than an hour.

The app’s support account has said that the app is currently “experiencing some issues,” according to a tweet. The app’s team is “working quickly to address” the problems.

Users were not able to log in to the app from either phone
or web earlier on Tuesday. The issue seems to be resolved now but some users
still could not login through the web. The problem seemed to be a widespread one
as nearly 40,000 users reported having issues on the Down Detector website, the
Verge reported.

Last week, TikTok, which is owned by Chinese internet giant
ByteDance, announced its plan to expand the maximum video length for all users,
from 60 seconds to three minutes. The ability to share longer videos is
supposed to roll out over the course of several weeks.

With TikTok videos not loading for them, unhappy users took
to other social media to vent and joke about the situation.

The cause of the outage is yet to be ascertained  for the company . While the TikTok app
appeared to be back and fully functional, the web browser version of the
website still appeared to have some issues. TikTok Support still has not shared
any further information to confirm that the problem has been resolved, so it
would make sense if some users are still experiencing technical difficulties.
