In yet another mass shooting incident in the United States, at least five people were killed and up to 18 were injured, according to local police. On the night of November 19, the incident took place at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs lieutenant Pamela Castro stated at a press conference that a suspect was detained and receiving medical attention following the attack at Club Q. Castro provided additional information about the incident, revealing that they had received the first call about it at 11:57 p.m. on November 19, according to CNN.

The Club Q is located in Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs is a city in Colorado located at the eastern foot of the Rocky Mountains.

On November 20, the nightclub posted a message on Facebook expressing its “devastation” over the attack. The post shared by Club Q, read, “Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community. Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack.”

According to the media reports, Club Q describes itself as an “adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub,” hosting theme nights such as drag shows, DJs, and karaoke.

In 2016, 49 people were killed and more than 50 were injured in a shooting at Orlando’s Pulse gay club. It was the deadliest mass shooting in US history at the time. The attack was described as “an act of terror and an act of hatred” by then-US President Barack Obama.
