According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, ten men were detained on Thursday as part of a one-day human trafficking sting operation that was conducted in North Olmsted, including teacher Jeffrey Ohl and superintendent Dan Keenan Jr.

To “identify those providing and purchasing commercial sex,” the investigation was carried out in collaboration with the North Olmsted Police Department, Westshore Enforcement Bureau, and Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Who are Jeffrey Ohl and Dan Keenan Jr?

On May 10, 2023, Jeffrey Ohl and Dan Keenan Jr were arrested as part of a one-day human trafficking sting operation in North Olmsted.

Ohl and Keenan Jr,. were both born in 1970 and are now 53.

Ahmed Aljabri, Sha Chuwan, William Minor, Erwin Palma-Torres, Jacob Safran, Raymond Schillinger,
Carl Whepley Jr. and Errol Jackson were also arrested for the same.

Dan Keenan Jr. is a former Westlake City Schools superintendent. According to his LinkedIn page, he held the position from 2007 to 2014. He is the executive director of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation.

Jeffrey Ohl is a Keystone Local School District teacher. Ohl has been suspended from work, according to Keystone Superintendent Dan While.

Seven possible victims of human trafficking were identified as part of the operation with the help of numerous organizations that supported the task force, such as the Canopy Child Advocacy Center, Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, and the Harriet Tubman Movement.

The operation was conducted on the same day that Elyria resident Steven Gilbert, 36, who had previously been convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault and human trafficking, was given a life sentence. Prosecutors claim that Gilbert “physically and psychologically abused” at least nine women over the course of several years while also raping, beating, drugging, and depriving them of food if they did not comply with his demands. Gilbert was apprehended in November 2021 on suspicion of running a human trafficking ring.
