Singer Beyonce Knowles made Grammy history by lifting her 28th award with her win as Best R&B Performance and with that, she has crossed Alison Krauss’ record for most wins by a female artist.

Born in Illinois, Krauss  grew up listening to everything from folk to opera to pop and rock
music, but quickly fell in love with bluegrass at the age of five. She signed her first record deal with Rounder
Records signed at an age of 14 and went on to release her debut solo album two
years later.

Since 1985, Krauss has
released 14 albums including five solo and seven with her longtime band and
musical collaborators Union Station. She has also collaborated with Robert Plant
for Raising Sand, which was certified platinum and won five Grammys, including
Album of the Year and Record of the Year.

Say Nothing At All’.

She’s sold more than 12
million records to date, and her honours include 27 Grammys, nine Country Music
Association awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and two Gospel Music
Association awards.

Krauss frequently
collaborates with artists from numerous genres, including Dolly Parton and
Taylor Swift.

She has  also contributed songs to numerous films, including ‘Down
to the River to Pray’ for the film ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou?’ and ‘You Will
Be My Ain True Love’ and ‘The Scarlett Tide’ in the film ‘Cold Mountain’.

In 2013, she performed at
the Kennedy Center’s “American Voices” festival. She has  also performed for three presidents—George
W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
