Allen Weisselberg, the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization, will reportedly plead guilty to various tax violations on Thursday. Media reports suggest he would be testifying about illicit business practices at the organisation.

Allen Weisselberg is charged with taking more than $1.7 million in off-the-books compensation from the Trump Organization over several years, including untaxed perks like rent, car payments and school tuition.

Weisselberg’s current court case is likely to fetch him a sentence of five months in jail, to be served at New York City’s notorious Rikers Island complex, and he could be required to pay about $2 million in restitution.

Who is Allen Weisselberg?

Allen Weisselberg, now 75, graduated from Pace University with a degree in accounting and finance in 1973. Soon after completing his studies, joined the Trump Organization.

He started working at the company when Fred Trump was still the boss. After working for 12 years under Fred Trump, Weisselberg was given a senior position in the company. Donald Trump had taken over control at this time.

Allen Weisselberg was given control of most financial matters of the company. These include Trump’s personal tax returns, negotiating deals, and managing the finances of charitable institutions. Weisselberg also oversaw the finances of Trump University, which has now been shut down.

Allen Weisselberg is known to be one of the most loyal supporter of Donald Trump. He reportedly purchased a home in New York’s Wantagh in 1978. When Trump came to visit, he said, “This is where my CFO lives? It’s embarrassing!”, Bloomberg reported.

A few days later, Weisselberg moved to a luxury apartment in Manhattan’s Upper West Side along with his family. He was also reportedly given multiple Mercedes-Benz cars for personal use. One of his children also received private school expenses, Bloomberg reported.
