A 19-year-old man has been detained by the Wichita Police Department in connection with the early-morning July 2 shooting that took place at the City Nightz club in Old Town. The man has been identified as Ameir King-Ingram.

As per media reports, eleven people were hurt as a result of the incident, nine of whom were injured after being shot and two of whom were crushed in the haste to exit the club.

Who is Ameir King-Ingram?

Ameir King-Ingram is a 19-year-old man arrested for a mass shooting at the City Nightz club in Old Town, Wichita. In a press release by the Wichita Police Department, officials confirmed the arrest. He was taken into custody on suspicion of two counts of aggravated violence and one count of criminal possession of a firearm by a felon. Despite the fact that King-Ingram is now the only person accused in connection with the violent crime, the department has already made two arrests in connection with the case.

Prior to this arrest, police officials arrested a 31-year-old Missouri man identified as Brandon Young. He was also accused of firing shots inside the City Nightz club. However, Sedgwick County District Attorney Marc Bennett asserted on Thursday that no charges would be filed against Young.

Bennett stated that Young acted in self-defense in response to the shots fired by other gunmen. The decision to file no charges was made after analyzing video footage from inside the club.

The Wichita Police Department praised the hard work and dedication of the detectives from the Felony Assault Section, who have been tirelessly investigating the case since the shooting took place. Their efforts led to the identification of Ameir as an additional shooter.

In a statement, the police department said Chief Sullivan will take all necessary administrative actions to prioritize the safety of our citizens and visitors in our community and will hold all the shooters accountable.
