Carl Paul Nassib is an American football defensive end who plays for the Las Vegas Raiders and first National Football League(NFL) player to come out as gay. He made his professional debut against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he recorded one sack, three tackles and one deflected pass, which earned him a nomination for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week.

In school, he was a three-year letterman in football and played as an offensive tackle and defensive end. He helped his team lead in both his junior and senior years. Nassib played in 10 games as a sophomore in 2013 and recorded 12 tackles and one sack. In 2015, he became a starter for the first time and reached 10 sacks in only six games to start the year.

He played college football at Penn State and then was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Nassib was named the Big Ten Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year for 2015 and was presented with the Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end.

He also won the Lombardi Award for being the best college football lineman or linebacker.

In 2018, he was waived by the Browns. Nassib set career-high in both sacks and tackles for loss, both higher than his career totals in both categories going into the season. He signed a three-year contract for $25 million with the Las Vegas Raiders.
