Gino Rotundo is the 57-year-old, currently in a faceoff with the police at North Providence, Rhode Island. His identity was announced by mayor Charles Lombardi, who also added that Rotundo has a relative in the Cranston Police Department, who’s been called to help with negotiations.

Rotundo is reportedly armed with an AR15 and fired a single shot but nobody was hurt. He has a female inside who wishes to remain there.

As per Official USA, which started as a directory back in 1998, Rotundo was born on March 22 and lives on Stephanie Drive, which is where the authorities gathered, after issuing a shelter in place message.

In March 2021, Rotundo had written in the Lincoln, Rhode Island-based Valley Breeze that the job of the police is to protect and serve.

There, he detailed that his entire family comprised of police officers, including his father, two uncles, and cousin. “I have the utmost respect for first responders”, Rotundo had written.

In the article, he complained about how “community policing” had changed in current times.

“I haven’t seen one officer in my neighbourhood introduce themselves. Now-a–days cops are not admired and this is one of the reasons why. I know personally several patrolman in North Providence”, he said.

Rotundo’s write-up was a complaint against having to pay tickets, and his argument was that cops hated giving out tickets. The North Providence resident outlined at the time that when his dad and uncles were cops, people were pulled over and let off with a warning if they were respectful to law enforcement officials.

The current situation has been categorized as a possible mental health crisis. RI Breaking News Source reported that the man had livestreamed himself saying that a drug dealer raped his wife and credited a Cranston PD officer for helping him.
