Hoppe, who grew up in prestigious circles in the town, pleaded not guilty to the allegations brought against her on Tuesday, April 18. She was married to Joel Hoppe, a judge, and they have two children.

Eleanor’s arrest has shocked everyone in Charlottesville, where she lives, and Richmond, where she grew up in a wealthy and prestigious family that helped build the city’s largest law firm, now known as Hunton, Andrews, Kurth.
Following a contentious divorce, in which the magistrate court accused his ex-wife of looking for sex with other men and women, the ex-spouses had previously agreed to joint physical custody in May 2021.
Joel further said in court documents submitted to the Albemarle Circuit Court in Virginia that his ex-wife had brought a sexual partner back to the marital residence while their young girls were present.

According to the criminal complaint submitted to the US District Court for the District of Columbia, the accused mother, 45, had visited a fetish website where users discussed and traded pictures of child sex abuse.
Joel, 46, further said in court documents submitted to the Albemarle Circuit Court in Virginia that his ex-wife had brought a sexual partner back to the marital residence while their young girl was to be present.
