The event happened in the Downtown Commons at approximately 4:45 p.m., a short distance from the Golden 1 Center entrance where people were arriving for a Christian rock concert.

After being stabbed at least once, the victim was declared dead at a local hospital. Barricades and crime tape were erected to keep concertgoers away from the crime scene. The Lauren Daigle performance went ahead despite the startling closeness; many attendees may not have known that a homicide investigation was still underway in the area.

“It’s a little frightening,” concertgoer Cal Bard said. It’s true that I know of a younger niece who is seven years old who is attending this event, and from the looks of it, many younger people are attending as well. The fact that they’ve done a fantastic job blocking this actually makes me glad.”

The Golden 1 Center, a noteworthy civic asset, has come to light during the homicide inquiry, amid worries about public safety and violent crime in the downtown region. Additionally, police stressed that they thought the suspect and victim were “experiencing homelessness.”
