American journalist Maria Menounos in an interview with Dear Media’s Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast said doctors initially missed her tumor. She was getting ready to birth her first child when this occurred. 

The 45-year-old television personality revealed that, after her initial scan in November, the tumor had grown double.

Who is Maria Menounos?

Maria Menounos is a Greek-American journalist, television presenter, and actress known for her work as a host on shows like Extra and E! News. 

She has also worked as a correspondent for Access Hollywood and Today. Menounos is also the co-founder and CEO of the online podcast network AfterBuzz TV. Since 2013, she has served as a WWE ambassador and hosted the Conversations with Maria Menounos podcast.

Menounos was a reporter for Channel One News during her final year at Emerson College. She had the chance to interview people and cover a variety of events in this capacity. She traveled to speak with NATO aircrew personnel aboard an E-3 AWACS plane during Operation Eagle Assist, covered the January and February 2001 earthquakes in El Salvador, and even got to interview President George W. Bush.

She recently during a podcast opened up about a concerning medical situation in which doctors initially missed her tumor before she received a diagnosis of stage-two pancreatic cancer. She added that “At that point it was two centimeters (0.79 inches) and by the time they had found it was almost four centimeters (1.5 inches), it had doubled in size in two months.”

Menounos revealed that even after hearing from her doctors that the mass was really a cause for concern, she didn’t have time to completely process the information until the next day. In an interview, she said, “I remember waking up the next morning and I hadn’t really cried, but I just started guttural crying articulating “How could God finally bless me with a baby after 10 years, and now I’m not going to get to meet her?”
