Multiple authorities responded to an incident this evening on a Delta Airlines flight 2432 from Atlanta to New Orleans. The incident involved a disruptive 31 year old man named Nelson Montgomery, who caused chaos upon landing.

Who is Nelson Montgomery?

Nelson Montgomery of New Orleans cut himself before grabbing a flight attendant and cutting her.

A passenger was asked to provide medical aid to Montgomery, who was already bleeding from his neck. However, the situation escalated dangerously when Montgomery grabbed a flight attendant and put her in a chokehold. He held a shard of broken glass against her neck and threatened to harm her by cutting off her head if anyone came close. In response to the threat, eight individuals collaborated to subdue Montgomery until law enforcement arrived. The police took him into custody for his actions during the flight.

According to deputies, the flight attendant received just minor injuries, but Nelson was brought to a nearby hospital.

Nelson faces aggravated battery, simple battery, and disturbing the peace charges.

Nelson will be arrested after he is released from the hospital.

Delta Airlines issued a statement in response to the incident:

“Delta flight 2432 operating from Atlanta to New Orleans was met by law enforcement personnel upon landing following a reported customer issue onboard. Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior on our aircraft and in our airports. Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our people and our customers.”

According to court documents, Nelson was charged with aggravated assault, illegal carrying of weapons, and domestic violence aggravated assault in New Orleans in 2012.

According to court records, he also faced a lesser misdemeanour in Jefferson Parish in 2003.
