A mother of three is accused of hiring a hitman to kill her husband after he filed for divorce, and she and her alleged toyboy lover are also charged.

After the claimed murderous plot was unintentionally thwarted by police in the Bahamas, former beauty queen Lindsay Shiver, 36, was taken into custody.

Who is Richard Shiver?

Lindsay, a US citizen from Georgia, split up with her husband Robert Shiver after falling in love with a local named Terrance Bethel.

Former Auburn University football player and insurance executive Robert is claimed to have uncovered the affair and sued for divorce.

He allegedly became the target of the murderous plot at that point.

According to Bahamas Court News, police were looking into another case when they by mistake came across the scam.

To acquire evidence, they were poring over a suspect’s phone early in July after a break-in at a neighbourhood pub in Great Guana Cay.

The suspected hitman plot was described in incriminating text texts that police apparently found.

It is asserted that the scheme was thwarted before it could be carried out when the texts were accidentally discovered.

Along with Faron Newbold, a local guy who police believe was recruited for the job, Lindsay and her suspected lover Bethel, 28, were all taken into custody.

The three suspects are currently being detained in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

They were expected back in court on October 5 but did not have to make a plea when they first appeared on Friday.

According to a source who spoke to Thomasville Times-Enterprise, Robert and Lindsay, who are parents of three kids, owned a home in the Bahamas.

Lindsay originally met Robert in 2007 at Auburn University while taking a fitness class, according to her Instagram account.

Following his time as the snapper for Auburn University, Robert signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons but was released prior to the 2009 season.

In 2005, Lindsay was crowned Miss Houston County and placed second in the National Peanut Festival competition.
