Roy Wood Jr, an American humorist, stand-up comedian, is set to host the White House Correspondents dinner on Saturday. The event is expected to be attended by top celebrities at Washington DC. It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Daily Show correspondent Wood Jr on Friday dropped hints about what jokes he will make at the White House Correspondents dinner. When asked by CNN host Kaitlan Collins about his targets, the comedian said: “I know what you’re trying to ask me, and I’m trying to answer it without answering. I’ve got to talk about everything this week. There was a lot of stuff that happened this week. Many things that happened this week, and those things have to be discussed in a fair way, in a very fair way.”

Both the president and the vice president will sit on the stage during the dinner for the first time since 2016, according to The Hill. The DC event was first held in 1920. It is hosted by the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA), which formed in 1914.

Meanwhile, this year’s dinner is already seeing some controversy. Protestors are marching to ‘blockade’ it, asking President Joe Biden for refusing new oil and gas projects.
