Soren Aldaco is facing a difficult battle after undergoing a series of life-altering medical procedures at a young age. In a lawsuit filed recently, Aldaco accuses doctors of prescribing testosterone and botching her double breast removal when she was only 17, instead of addressing her underlying depression and anxiety.

Soren Aldaco, is a 23-year-old young woman from Texas. According to the 29-page complaint, Aldaco was a confused, autistic, and emotionally vulnerable teenager when doctors in Fort Worth and Austin advised her to transition to become a boy.
They suggested she take cross-sex hormones and undergo a double mastectomy. However, Aldaco’s lawsuit claims that these doctors acted more like “ideologues,” pushing her towards transitioning without fully discussing alternative treatments and the potential consequences of irreversible procedures.

The double breast removal, referred to as a mastectomy, left Aldaco with severe physical complications. Her nipples reportedly peeled off her chest, and she is now unable to breastfeed and may face infertility. Additionally, the hormone treatments caused damage to her vagina and resulted in other health problems.
Aldaco’s tragic experience highlights the ongoing debate surrounding gender-affirming care for minors. Supporters of such treatments argue that puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries can save lives among transgender youth, who are more prone to suicidal thoughts. However, opponents believe that sex is determined at birth and cannot be changed, and that irreversible medical interventions may cause long-term harm.
The case has raised questions about the ethical responsibility of healthcare providers when it comes to treating minors questioning their gender identity. Aldaco’s lawyers assert that she was a vulnerable teenager dealing with mental health issues, and instead of offering caution and therapy, the defendants pushed her down a path of permanent physical disfigurement.
The lawsuit names the nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, counselor, and surgeons involved in Aldaco’s case, as well as the clinics responsible for her care. None of the defendants have responded to the media’s requests for comment as of yet.
