A woman was caught taking down posters of kidnapped Israeli by Hamas, in Brooklyn, New York.

The woman has been identified as Stephany Portillo Hidalgo. The video of her went viral on social media where she can be seen taking down posters.

Who is Stephany Portillo Hidalgo?

Stephany Portillo Hidalgo is a student at St. Francis College. She is being heavily criticized on social media for taking down posters and expressing hate for Israel amid ongoing conflict.

In the video, she can be seen defending her actions with her friend.

Several users reacted to the viral video on Instagram. One user wrote, “I can’t believe how many Latinos escaped from their third world countries, or were taken by their parents to developed countries, to give them a better future and have fallen so doing these horrible things.”

“They sound so stupid. My mind is blown.” another user commented.

One user commented, “You’re propagating propaganda”. Wow…did you go to University for that brilliance?”

Following Israel’s reaction to Hamas’ terror strikes on October 7, tensions throughout the world have risen, and antisemitic actions against American Jews have increased. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in Michigan’s regional director, Carolyn Normandin, has noted a notable rise in instances in her state.

As per reports, when compared to the same period the previous year, the ADL reported a 388% rise in antisemitic events nationwide.

According to Normandin, her office has been with a variety of situations, such as verbal and physical attacks and threats made on social media. In one instance, rocks were hurled at Jews in Michigan; in another, a Jewish doctor got threats over the situation in Israel. 

Hateful statements and outbursts have been directed towards Jewish-owned companies. At Michigan State University, a landmark was vandalized with the slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” which calls for the abolition of Israel.
