Who is William Galvin?

William Galvin was born and raised in Brighton, Massachusetts in September 1950. He attended Saint Mary’s High School and later went on to complete his graduation from Boston University.

William Galvin’s political career got a jumpstart in 1972, months after he completed his graduation. He won a special election to the open seat in the Massachusetts General Court and became a State Representative a few years later.

Galvin made headlines in the 2006 midterm elections in the United States. It was reported that he would run for the governor’s office and would seek the Democratic party’s nomination for the bid. However, Galvin announced that he will attempt to retain his office as the Secretary of State. He had held the position since 1995.

Galvin, a veteran politician in Massachusetts, has won almost all primary and midterm elections comfortably. The 2018 election was an exception. His bid to retain office was interrupted by Josh Zakim, a member of the Boston City Council.
