On September 2, Shimmer Wrestling tweeted that Daffney
Unger had passed away. Less than 24 hours before, Daffney appeared in an
Instagram Live holding a gun and threatening self-harm.

Shannon Claire Spruill was an American professional
wrestler. She was also a valet and an actress with the stage name Daffney.

Daffney was best known for her appearances with World
Championship Wrestling between 1999 and 2001 and with Total Nonstop Action
Wrestling from 2008 to 2011.

She was born on the Wiesbaden Army Airfield on July 17,
1975. Unger grew up in a military-oriented household. Her father was
stationed in Wiesbaden, West Germany, at a United States Air Force base. In
1976, her family returned to the United States.

Spruill graduated from Georgia State University with a
Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Production in March 1998, majoring in Acting
and Music. She went on to work in media production before deciding to make
acting her full-time career.

She made her acting debut in the 1985 film Santa Claus:
The Movie, in which she had a minor part.

Daffney debuted
in professional wrestling in 1999. In 1999, she was hired by the
WCW, seeking for new talent at the time. She stepped into the character of
Daffney, David Flair’s mentally ill girlfriend.

When Daffney was
hiding near ringside, she would let forth a piercing scream. She was dubbed
“Scream Queen” as a result of this. Her screams were inspired by
Juliette Lewis’ character Mallory Knox in the film Natural Born Killers.

Due to financial
cuts, she was dismissed by WCW on February 2, 2001. Spruill made her Shimmer
Women Athletes debut as Daffney in April 2007.
