David Wright, 63, was found dead inside a home where a gunfight between the police and a man took place on Saturday in Sevierville, Tennessee. ABC News reports citing the police that it is not clear if Wright died in as a result of the gunfight. The police said that Wright’s cause of death is being determined.

Who was David Wright?

David Wright was a 63-year-old man, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Further deatils about him is not available. His cause of death is under investigation by the Bureau and will be known after the autopsy report is available.

According to ABC News, a K-9 police dog named Hank was also wounded in the gunfight and is currently recovering from surgeries. The nature of injuries to the K-9 officer is not known. After the operation, Hank was transferred to a veterinary clinic in Knoxville for further treatment. The Belgian Malinois has since been sent home to recover with his police handler, according to Sevierville city spokesperson Bob Stahlke.

A second individual in the home was hospitalized with unspecified injuries. On Friday night, officers were called to the house in Sevierville after a felony suspect evaded police in a vehicle. Upon arriving at the scene, someone inside the home opened fire on the officers, who returned fire. The bureau is currently investigating the shooting.

Additionally, the bureau reported that two sheriff’s deputies and one city officer received minor injuries during the incident, though none of them were caused by gunfire. The bureau did not disclose the identities of these individuals.
