Norwich police has identified the body found last week buried in Mohegan Park as 44-year-old boxer Martin Wright. The authorities said the remains of the New York boxer were found on Sunday by a person taking a walk in the park. Wright was killed by his brother in January, the police has stated.

Who was Martin Wright?

With 15 fights under his belt, Martin Wright was a former professional boxer from Brooklyn. He won 11 fights in his career, which spanned from 2006 until 2015. Wright reportedly won a title during his career and used his knowledge to instruct boxing in the neighborhood, according to Bronx 12. Locals in Brooklyn informed reporters that Wright was actively involved in mentoring young people in the area.

Detectives believe that Wright’s 45-year-old brother, McMillian Wright, killed him on January 28 at a house on 773A Monroe Street in New York City, according to authorities. Officials added that once more information showed that Wright had suffered a head injury, his body was taken from the Monroe Street home.

“It was a lot to take in, almost unbelievable, just for someone to be here and constantly be an impact on everyone and then poof, they’re gone,” victim’s Martin Perez told reporters.
