As reported by authorities, a student in the eighth grade died on the Fourth of July while tubing on a lake in South Dakota. According to a witness who spoke to KSFY, Emily “Emmy” Brynn Gorman was tubing on Lake Madison when a jet ski struck her inner tube. In a post on Facebook, her mother, Stacy Gorman, stated that her daughter passed away at a hospital following a ‘tragic boating accident’.

She died from her injuries despite the fact that a doctor and nurse arrived on the scene in no time, according to the witness. On Friday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office informed Fox News Digital that the investigation was still underway and that it was unable to provide any further details.

According to the 13-year-old’s obituary, Emily Gorman was a girl with a “caring heart” and a “beautiful soul.” She cherished hosting guests for sleepovers and was known to stay up late “joking, laughing, and playing games.” She loved the two pugs that belonged to her family and would frequently attempt to persuade them to let her have another dog by sending them adorable images of the dogs she desired via text or creating PowerPoint presentations.

Emily engaged in volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, dance, and other hobbies. According to the obituary, she is survived by her parents and two sisters. “Words cannot express our devastation and sorrow,” her mother wrote in her obituary. “For all those that knew and loved Emmy, know that she was so special, so beautiful, and had the biggest heart of anyone. She cared so deeply for those she loved and for all animals.”

“Words cannot capture what a beautiful soul Emmy is, her unique personality or how much she is loved and cherished by her parents, sisters, friends, family, and all those that knew her,” the obituary adds. A GoFundMe established for the family to help with medical expenditures, funeral fees, and missed income has so far raised $16,365 of its $25,000 target. The date of her funeral is set for next Wednesday.
