Raymond Green Vance is one of the five victims killed in a mass shooting at a Colorado Springs LGBTQ nightclub last weekend. Just before midnight on Saturday (November 19), a gunman burst into Club Q and opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle and a handgun.

Police said that the suspect, Anderson Aldrich, 22, shot five people. They had initially reported that 25 people were injured in the attack, but revised that figure to 18 two days later. 

Who was Raymond Green Vance?

Raymond Green Vance was a 22-year-old Colorado Springs resident. He was one of five people killed at Club Q shooting, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

According to a family news release, it was Vance’s first visit to the club. He did not identify as LGBTQ+, but as an ally, they said. Vance was visiting Club Q with his girlfriend, Kassy Fierro and her family to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

Vance was born in Chicago, but grew up in Colorado Springs. He graduated from the Sand Creek High School in 2018. Vance, a video game enthusiast, hoped to one day turn his hobby into an online career, his family said.

He recently accepted a position at a FedEx distribution centre in Colorado Springs. He wanted to save money for an apartment, but he had to live with his mother and younger brother for the time being.

Vance, his family said, was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, and cousin, “a kind, selfless young adult with his entire life ahead of him.” His mother recalled him as a “popular, well-liked young man who never got into any trouble and had a lot of friends.”
