Who was Ryan Clinkunbroomer?

Deputy Clinkunbroomer was 30 years old. He was a well-respected member of the force and had spent the previous 1 and a half years working as a field training officer.

Clinkunbroomer was in his uniform and was on active duty when he was shot on Saturday night. Shortly after he left a police station in Palmdale, a city north of Los Angeles, the incident happened when his patrol car was at a stop sign. Surveillance footage of the horrible incident led to a lengthy manhunt over the weekend.

Clinkunbroomer’s family had a lengthy history in law enforcement as third-generation deputies. His father had been a lieutenant, and his grandfather had reached the rank of captain. Tragically, only four days after his engagement to his girlfriend, Clinkunbroomer’s life was killed.

Kevin Cataneo Salazar was apprehended on Monday following a protracted standoff with Special Enforcement Bureau agents at the suspect’s residence in the 37700 block of Barrinson Street in Palmdale, according to Sheriff Robert Luna, who made the announcement at a press conference held at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.

The investigators discovered the dark gray Toyota Corolla that they believe was used in the Saturday shooting with “numerous firearms”. While the Sheriff’s Department is certain that they are holding the right person, Luna emphasized that they are still looking for any public information that can help the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office prove their case.

Clinkunbroomer’s family in a statement said, “Our son Ryan was a dedicated, hardworking deputy sheriff who enjoyed working here at the Palmdale station. He was proud to work along the side of his partners that he considered brothers and sisters as he sacrificed daily to better the community that he served. Ryan made the ultimate sacrifice in doing so.”
